In the evening hours of this November 26, the Cuban health authorities appeared at the headquarters of the so-called San Isidro Movement , located at Calle Damas No.955, in the capital city of Old Havana, to certify the violation of the health protocol for international travelers , executed by the Cuban citizen with Mexican residence Carlos Manuel Álvarez Rodríguez , who after declaring another address where he was going to stay, decided of his own will and without assessing the consequences of his actions to move to that home , after entering the country through the José Martí International Airport a few days ago.
Given his refusal to comply with the provisions of the measures decreed by Cuba to prevent the transmission of COVID-19 and that apply to people who come from abroad, a complaint was filed at the local PNR station, for the crime of Propagation of Epidemics, which forced an immediate action to extract the people who were in the place.
This action took place in full compliance with the law and without violating the citizen rights of any of those involved, and responds to the necessary interest of protecting the Cuban population from the transmission of the pandemic, as well as safeguarding the lives of those who resulted be direct contacts of Álvarez Rodríguez, who is known to have stopped in the United States from Mexico and then traveled to the national territory.
In the midst of the context imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic, the epidemiological surveillance carried out aims to return to normality for the good of society. For this reason, for the irresponsible acts described in this note and others that have the same consequences, strict compliance with the provisions will be maintained.
Once the measures are applied to the person or persons responsible and the health status of all those under medical observation is certified, they will return to their respective homes, if they do not constitute a risk to the health of the population.
